I’ve been really into videogames lately. I’m a huge fan of the Aliens/Predator series, and I just found out about this a couple of days ago. This is the AVP game trailer.
Bioshock 2 looks like it will be as amazing as the first. This is a walkthrough.
Also, a big congratulations to the Alien saga on their 30th anniversary! The first two movies are so well done.
This past Saturday, Healthcare was passed with a 60-39 vote to move forward in the Senate in debating Sen. Harry Reid’s bill.
I know Representatives and Senators can view the bill and deliberate, but we are supposed to see the bill too, right? According to Obama, the government should be transparent in what they are doing and debating upon. Instead, they are lying and wrapping up Healthcare with Reynold’s wrap so that none of us can see what’s in the bill. Moreover, this Congress is having a real nice habit of voting on the weekend now, so that 1) people aren’t paying as much attention and 2) so they can shut down the phone lines so citizens can’t voice their opinions to their representatives. As a result, the Democratic majority is having a lot ease in gliding their Healthcare bill to the next step. In case you aren’t paying attention, no Republicans supported this bill in this last vote.
This is true deception to the American people, and conservatives in Congress need to say it. Enough of this pitter-patter “can’t offend” anyone-because-I-have-an-election-coming-up-mentality. Those who are against this bill are only offending us more by not saying a damn word. Just saying “you’re against it” is just not enough for the bill to stop in its tracks.
To the Democrats: Thanks for your transparency in this Healthcare legislation thus far. It shows how much you really care about our concerns.
Clash of the Titans was one of those nostalgic films of my youth. It was full of neat stop-motion creatures, and explored various tales in Greek Mythology.
The movie itself was a fantasy story about the myth of Perseus, a half-human half-deity, born of Zeus, who seeks to save Princess Andromeda from the Kraken – an ancient sea monster summoned by Poseidon, the god of the sea. In case you were wondering, the Kraken in this version is not merely a giant squid, but a serpent like creature with a subhuman upper body with many tenticles.
Along his journey, Perseus and his men face skeleton warriors, giant scorpions, witches, Calibos (a half human, half goat like creature), and even Medusa, the serpent lady with snakes for hair.
This was the original trailer – quite cheesy. For 1981, this looks especially dated. Keep in mind that Raiders of the Lost Ark was made in the same year, and this was made one year after The Empire Strikes Back. So, this looks very ripe to be remade.
For the new one they’ve changed things up a bit for sure, but are for the most part keeping the myth intact. Directed by Louis Letterier (The Incredible Hulk), Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation) is Perseus, Liam Neeson is Zeus, and Ralph Fiennes is Hades. Liam Neeson + Ralph Fiennes = Could be super awesome.
This is the teaser trailer…and I’m looking very forward to this right now.
According to Empire magazine, Bubo – the golden clockwork owl – is not in the majority of the film. I thought he was hilarious! However, the director has said that he may not be entirely absent from the film. Cross my fingers for some extra nostalgia.
Attorney General Eric Holder announced the decision Friday to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed(above) and four others detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to trial at a lower Manhattan courthouse near the site of the World Trade Center, whose twin towers they will be charged with destroying and 2,752 people they will be accused of murdering.
This trial will be the biggest media spectacle ever. And, it possibly could be the stupidest thing this administration has ever done.
I am simply outraged. Think about what is about to happen. These terrorists (yes, I said terrorists) are about to be tried right near the site where thousands died in an vicious act against the U.S. This was no misdemeanor. This was no felony. This was an attack on Western Civilization. And we, the United States, are going to try them as civilians. Just imagine what New Yorkers are thinking. They either are overjoyed to try these despicable people, or are extremely devastated to relive 9/11 over with the people who caused it right next door.
This will be a public trial, instead of a military tribunal. We will now have to disclose government intelligence because this is a civilian trial. Sources within the deepest part of our intelligence agencies will now have to disclose their identities and their secrets if they testify. Torture will be discussed again. Miranda rights will come into play.
Ladies and gentlemen, every bit of intelligence that was used to track these suspects down, the world will now know about it and how we operate. Since when did the U.S. go on trial here? For some reason, that’s what this administration seems like it wants to do.
The 9/11 suspects will be given a full platform to preach to the U.S. and the rest of the world about their Radical Jihad, their thoughts behind trying to destroy America, and how happy they were in murdering thousands by giving them a public testimony in this trial. Our own government is allowing it.
I ask this: What happens if they aren’t convicted? What happens if they are put in U.S. prisons? Regardless if you believe in Gitmo or not, would you like the people who orchestrated the biggest mass murder/terrorist attack on our own soil, live right near you? I sure wouldn’t.
What a sham this is. Let’s all hold hands, sing Kumbaya, and pray that these suspects receive the fairest of trials….for these Muslim terrorists and their beliefs on the destruction of America are so much more important to protect than avenging the thousands of those who died on Sept. 11, 2001 and their families.
I can only hope that this goes well. I hope that these detainees, who have confessed in these crimes, are served true justice and punishment. I hope that they will not be given any passes through our legal system. I hope.
So I’m gonna say it. I like Carrie Prejean. Yep. I do. She’s conservative. She’s a hottie. I sometimes dream about her. Wondering what life would be like someday as we stroll across white sandy beaches together amidst a beautiful sunset….
Oh when is that darn sunset ever going to set! (cries) I was watching Bedazzled a minute ago.
Carrie Prejean, in case you forgot, was known for this statement:
Overall, she handled this question in a very civil manner. When you’re in front of millions with that question being asked, it’s quite hard to answer the gay marriage question, for no matter what your answer is, you’ll be torn apart by the media unless you say “no comment” or “it’s a very tough question, maybe one I don’t have an answer for….it’s definitely up to the states.” Instead, Carrie stood up for her beliefs, and people should respect that, not chastise her. In case you didn’t get the memo though, a majority of the U.S. disagrees with gay marriage: According to a CNN poll in May:
Fifty-four percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday say that marriages between gay or lesbian couples should not be recognized as valid, with 44 percent suggests they should be considered legal.
Among those 18 to 34 years old, 58 percent said same-sex marriages should be legal. That number drops to 42 percent among respondents 35 to 49 years old, and to 41 percent for those 50 to 64 years of age. The poll indicates that only 24 percent of Americans 65 and older support recognizing same-sex marriages as valid.
So you would have thought it was okay to speak your mind. But no. Carrie Prejean was victimized and demonized for saying what she believes. Perez Hilton surely didn’t like hearing that answer, and because he disagreed, he attacked her publicly and called her a “cunt” among other things. So much for freedom of speech, right?
What I found funny about the situation was that Obama, our president, has publicly said he doesn’t believe in same-sex marriage. Shouldn’t he deserve the same treatment as Ms. Prejean? The answer is no. The liberal media was not going to publicize that statement.
I thought she did a great job fighting back, especially when the pageant reversed its decision initially with Donald Trump at the forefront speaking on behalf of her. She spoke out and now has a book. Good for her.
Unfortunately, now….she’s in a bit of a pickle. A sex tape was found. And, when sex tapes are found, that is all the media will talk about. It degrades her among the public. However, I don’t believe she’s a hypocrite. It’s not like she said “I’m the most wholesome, purist creature in the world.” She was just painted as Ms. Perfect….much in the same way as Sarah Palin was made to look like an idiot.
Fact: Ask anyone liberal or moderate about Sarah Palin, and I’ll guarantee that they will say, “Palin said she saw Russia from her house.” It was Tina Fey from SNL who said that. And….Russia is right across from Alaska.
Now, I would like to express my concern for Carrie.
The sex tape – not good.
Almost walking off Larry King – worse.
What sucks about anyone on TV is that websites and social networking media replay clips like this to kingdom come now. All a lot of people see is that Carrie Prejean was a bitch.
I sensed that she truly wasn’t allowed to talk about the agreement. She might have discussed this beforehand with Larry King, and maybe he just didn’t listen. But to someone as big as Larry King, who isn’t known to show much bias, almost walking off Larry King gives her the perception of being a drama queen.
With all this mind, I have some words for Carrie Prejean.
Dear Carrie,
I love you. I love your face. I love your golden locks of hair. I advise you to be a little more careful with the media. The media wants to savage you. They want to make you look like a fool. You have to rise above them, and expect these games that you’re going to have to play. I got your back girl.
Also….no more sex tapes. Can you by any chance give me a download link though?
This was just unbelievable. I gasped when I saw the pictures. I’d rather not post them out of respect, so visit this site here to see the video of the woman featured on Oprah.
Charla Nash was attacked by a 200lb Chimpanzee that belonged to her friend and neighbor. The animal was said to pose a risk to the community, yet the owner and her employer Sandra Herold didn’t care and had kept the animal at her house.
Sandra asked Charla one day to help lure the animal into her home since it wasn’t budging outside, and then, for some reason, the animal went berserk and viciously mauled Charla.
She is currently suing the state of Connecticut and Sandra for millions in damages. When you see the pictures and video, you’ll quickly understand how brave this woman must be in dealing with her disfigurement. How sad.
Pet stores are one thing, but having huge wild animals inside residential communities is just plain wrong and should be illegal….especially when an incident like this happens. Would you like to have an unpredictable 200 pound Chimp next door? I don’t think so.
A terrible tragedy. 13 killed. Over 40 wounded. The man suspected: Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. Read more and watch live here.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims and those at the memorial today. As America has always done, we will embrace this tragedy, and rise up from its ashes and strengthen yet again.
Ironically, I thought of V for Vendetta today, for the massacre happened on Nov. 5th, also known as Guy Fawkes Night:
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
In no means am I comparing the movie and the event. I just thought it was interesting. I will remember the 5th of November, but now with a completely different outlook to our fallen soldiers.
According to reports, Hasan had raised many “red flags” and had tried to contact Al Qaeda. He had also attended the same mosque as two of the 9/11 hijackers did. If this is all true, I’m severely disappointed. Again, we could have prevented a tragedy from occurring, and also realize that Al Qaeda is a real threat. Enough of this political correctness with saying “enemy combatants” and not saying “the war on terrorism.” This is what I have to say:
America, terrorism is real and not a fairy tale. In regards to Fort Hood though, I wish it were. RIP.
Today, we mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which signified the fall of Communism. On June 12, 1987, Ronald Reagan went to Brandenburg Gate and addressed 45,000 at the Berlin Wall:
We welcome change and openness; for we believe that freedom and security go together, that the advance of human liberty can only strengthen the cause of world peace. There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
And soon afterward…it did. Mikhail Gorbechev, the Soviet leader at the time, finally let it be torn down. Communism collapsed. Here is the article.
This is a celebration of freedom. It must have been an incredible moment for America at the time, and for those watching around the world as the Soviet Union fell afterwards. Imagine what it must have felt like to utter the words, “Tear down this wall.” Just imagine. It’s times like this when I’m incredibly proud to be an American.
However, Obama didn’t want to come to the party though. Hillary was there in his place. He instead gave a “surprise” video address. I wonder why. Shouldn’t our president have actually been there to mark this moment, since it was Reagan’s administration who helped bring an end to the Evil Empire of Communism?
Maybe he was too busy writing an apology note. Who knows.
This was a clip I saw on Hannity last weekend before the election in New Jersey. Some of these people were good, and some were just plain ridiculous. I pretty much yelled when one of the female voters said to tax the wealthy at 70%.
By the way, Congrats to Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell on their wins! It’s a long way to go before the GOP will find its way from the catacombs. This is definitely a start though.
So I’m back. It really has been a while huh? During October, I pretty much have to do everything Fall and Halloween related. So, I slacked. There’s a lot of things going on, and it pretty much sucks as usual. I might as well just dive in and give you some of my thoughs on Medicare….or as I like to call it….Medicrap.
Currently, we have this Healthcare proposal that’s being hotly debated upon. The Dems love it. The GOP, not so much. Bicker bicker bicker. Blah blah blah. You know the deal. My thoughts you might ask? Well, since the bills keep changing so much that you need a lawyer just to understand the bill, its kind of pointless debating on it as a whole right now.
So let’s talk about Medicare. I happen to like Medicare. It takes care of my mama and papa really well. Because it has worked pretty well, the Dems say, “Medicare is a government run program that works really well. If we can run that well…why not have a government run insurance plan a.k.a. public plan?”
Here’s the ugly truth though: We are stuck with Medicare. It should have been privatized long ago. Older people have paid into medicare for years and are entitled to it. But the government has bankrupted programs like Medicare and Social Security proving once again its total incompetence in running anything. Think Cash for Clunkers and the big wads of money we blew through, and then had to blow through again because we ran out of money for the program in a week. Granted it was sort of successful…but at a great expense. I think its funny that Ford actually made out better on that deal.
Free market systems ultimately stand the test of time – not government solutions – which are not subject to free market competition but are subject to waste, fraud, and abuse of power. In 1965, Medicare was predicted to cost $26 billion in 2003; the actual cost that year was $245 billion. Let me say that number again – $245 BILLION. Total Medicare spending reached $440 BILLION for the fiscal year of 2007, or 16% of all federal spending. WTF! Medicare’s unfunded liability currently hovers around $40 TRILLION. Now what is happening? Seniors are freaking out about medicare now and worried about losing their benefits. If Medicare doesn’t change, the whole system is going to topple over, and the U.S. with it. Government has caused this mess. Ergo, we are stuck with Medicare since their is no other choice. To look at charts with projected costs visit wiki’s page here.
It’s really scary to see how much money is being spent, and how much will be spent in the coming years. This simply isn’t fiscal responsibility at all. The Medicare balloon will pop one day if we don’t change it, for it can only inflate so much. Maybe, it will be like a big pinata and explode with candy all over the U.S.!
The solution is not another badly run government program that relies on raiding other government programs or printing up more money that doesn’t have value. But were that true – I could open up my monopoly game and hit Boardwalk and Park Place (and use that little iron too). The free market succeeds because it is based on competition (which keeps costs down) and rewarding hard work (so more doctors enter the system and drug companies vie for better drugs and better procedures). It doesn’t succeed when the government messes around too much – for example – why not allow people to purchase health insurance in other states rather than giving individual state insurers a monopoly? That would bring down the cost of people’s premiums. Because state insurance companies don’t have to compete – our premiums are higher. Why not offer tax vouchers where you have to spend them on mandatory health insurance? Then your own money is being used to buy your health insurance. That’s my stimulus plan.
So, I ask: If Medicare is on the brink of failure, what makes you think the government can sustain running its own healthcare plan?
Think about it. In the meantime, I’m off to Starbucks for an espresso.
